On long distance rides, I keep a couple of sturdy zip lock bags in the inside pockets of my riding jacket. Before leaving the hotel in the morning, I fill the bags with ice and place them back inside the inner pockets of the jacket. Keeps you cool especially if the jacket is vented. Try it, it works!

 

In the desert we ride even at 100, but its dry and feels incredible (till u stop)

 

Hey all..I thought I'd throw in my .02 cents on this..I use a product called chill out cooling towel..u can find on ebay....just wet and works awesome...I also saw lots of people saying they use baby powder or gold bond...i dont care for smelling like a baby or medicine...you gotta try cornstarch...its inexpensive, unscented, isnt harmful like talc, and actually provides better chafing protection than the above...Once u try it, guarantee you'll toss the other powders...

So, I guess if it's 92F it stays at 92F.... any hotter, it gets hotter the faster you go.

If you have any galding down there, I read that cornstarch can actually feed the bacteria - and I get that a lot as a carpenter.
I have a mesh jacket that has 2 liners; one padded and one waterproof - $125 on Fleabay. Still, over 80 degrees I can't stand it.
That said, with my arms burnt from a couple hundred Georgia miles today (forgot sunscreen) I realized that with my leather vest over my tanktop, my torso was fairly cool.

Next ride I'll be trying a white cotton dress shirt with the vest over it. I figure the loose sleeves will ventilate and keep the sun off, and a little sweat under the vest will be cooled by the air coming in the front and sides, where it's tied together with leather strips. Might start a new fad here?
