Lightbulb Is this worth purchasing, BILLET OIL COOLER?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...DLVI%26ps%3D54

I keep seeing these Billet Oil Coolers that slip-on the existing HD Oil Filter. It has fins that are supposed to draw heat and cool your oil. Please go to this link, look at this thing and please advise if you think it is a worth while purchase. It was originally sold through HD.

Thanks for your support and wisdom.

I have one, checked it out & it did radiate heat..... maybe if your oil temp is 250+ and youre running at 75+mph it might be good for 1-3 degs cooling, just due to extra radiant cooling only.

Otherwise, consider it as a chrome accessory that matches the cylinder fins. Not to be considered as an oil cooler.... IMO

I've had one for about 3 yrs. All I can say good is that it saves me from buying the chrome filters saving me a couple of bucks, so after like twenty oil changes it paid for it self. No way of knowing if it actually cools anything.

+1. It's a minimal heat-sink, not an oil cooler. I think you might do as well with a black oil filter, which radiates heat better than chrome.

Well it is not a significant amount of money so if you get minimal effect from it, 1 or 2 dgree drop, it is worth it in my book. Just don't buy it thinking you will get a 20 degree drop or something. Plus it looks cool and we all know people have spent way more for less.

Like everyone else, I'd avoid it. While I may have fins to catch air, it's an extra layer around the filter. Seems to me it'd act like a Koozie and keep it hot.
