New passenger backrest!

New passenger backrest!
Well, it took a little while, but today I received Momma's custom backrest. When I get my BR Bars, I soon began thinking of how to "extend" the look of the bars.... In fairly short order, I decided a backrest to "match" the 1.5" BR Sweeping Beaters would be just the ticket.
I did the best I could sketching things out. I made some "feet" from lexan and took them to a metal shop buddy & had them made. I then made a jig, from 1" square aluminum stock that these "feet" could be mounted to and would "position" the them exactly the way they would need to be for installation.
I took pics of what I had done and emailed them to Bill @ BR. After a couple calls & conversations, he (reluctantly) agreed to give it a shot. I sent the feet, jig, and a spare HD backrest to him for reference.
Some time passed. We exchange more pics & ideas.
Well.... today, I received the result of my (im)patient planning & idea and Bill's craft.
Here's a look at the feet I made...
and here they are on the jig...
Here's what BR sent back.... It's KICKAZZ!!!
It's almost impossible to take a picture of it that doesn;t look strange because the tubes not only curve in (from bottom to top), they curve back (from bottom to top). He used 24" / 1.25" tube & made it look like my bars... Just what I wanted!!!!
I got it unfinished because I'm gonna add a removable pad (for Momma) & need to figure out how to do that so it's "clean" both with & w/o the pad. For now, I'm just painting it black. When the pad interface is done, I'll have it powder coated.
If ya ever need some killer bars, crashbars, etc..... check these guys out. They do KILLER work!!! http://www.brcustomcycles.com/

Ok... here are a few more shots of the backrest, installed. Because we're heading out for a little 3k mile cruise Saturday morning, I had to just paint it real quick. When we get back, I will have to create some sorta pad for it and then have it powder coated to match everything else.
One angle....
Another look....
...and a third ~ yea, I know the luggage rack looks like **** but we're getting ready for a trip.
Over the top...
... 'lil closer
Closer yet...
From the back...
Here's a look with both the bars & backrest "points" ~ they match...
And finally, a side shot...
