Based on the record of my 2008 UC which I bought new I vist the dealer for an issues at least once a month so I bought it. My ride is beautiful in all respect but poor quality.
That's not very encouraging news. Once a month on repairs. Pretty sad when you are paying top dollar for a bike. If I have that kind of trouble with my 10 then I can guarantee you I wont buy the extended warranty because I wont own it any more.

Mine extended is set to expire in January. I wasn't going to renew it and low and behold I developed an transmission oil leak. We shall see what this costs, I'm thinking I just may renew the warranty because this issue just may have paid for it.

I honestly haven't had a singe issue, not one trip back for warranty in 10k miles now, but I will renew it for at least 2 more years. I want to sell the 08 next year and get a new one, I figure it will be easier to sell with a warranty. I will post if I get a post card from them or not. I checked today and actually expire on Sept 2.

It all depends on how much and how you ride it.

I got a postcard from MOCO about two months before the factory warranty expired.

I never get them on anything. It is NOT an extended warranty. It is a service contract and not worth the money. Yes, from time to time someone comes out ahead just like at the Casino. But the overwhelming odds are that they win. They know the odds and come up with a price that is in their favor.

If you can't afford to fix a bike, you should not have one in my opinion. My 07 FXST purchased new in Aug. 06 would have been a total loss of the expense if I get to Aug this year. It has never needed anything. Since, I will on an extended trip in a few weeks with the Ultra, it is likely that the Softail will not need any repairs that a dealer would do by this August.

What is it that bikers are so afraid of? Is this the result of the pussification of the American biker. Oh wo is me, my bike might need to be repaired and I need someone else to pay for it.

I just received a postcard from the dealer. They offered the same price that it would have been when I first picked it up. They said that there was supposed to be a $150 fee for not getting it in the first month but they waived it. I have until the end of the month to decide but I am leaning towards passing on it. $1494 to extend another five years.

I have a hard time buying them on anything. If I had issues on my bike during the 2 year warranty, I would trade it. Other than that, they are sold for profit and priced like insurance policies.

If I was going to go with an extended warranty, the only one that I would even consider would be one backed and underwritten by HD. There are alot of other companies selling extended warranties and I do not hear much good at all about them.
