They said if he had been wearing a helmet he would have lived. I wear one all the time but I do not know how they can really tell if that would have been the case.
My condolences.
Pretty much any impact to the head from the pavement, guard rail, curb, telephone pole, car or some other solid object like a tree is going to be intense enough to be fatal without a helmet.
