Gettin old is a bitch! so I need to take a Harley helmet lock off of my engine guard and the key to remove the screws has disappeared from "the place I put it so I wouldn't forget where I put it". Do I have any other options other than drilling it t out or buying another lock for the key? Am I the only one that ever done this?
I took a 3 corner file and filed a straight line across the head. Finllay got it deep enough to use a straight screw driver. 10 minutes top. I then replace them with stainless steel phillips.
I took the blade out of my 10" hacksaw frame. Then I put on a heavy pair of gloves and manualy cut a slot in the head of the screws. Took a screwdriver and out it came. Ten minutes or so. Oh Ya, I replaced both screws with regular phillips. Those anti-theft screws are hard to find and you don't really need them anyway.
I never had a key. I was able to get mine off with a small pair of channel locks. Took a little doing, but I got it off and the screws weren't marred so I was able to reuse them.
