Been ridin' with some sort of laptop for nearly 10 years. Currently usin' a NetBook, they're great for size & power. I have a Targus bag that holds the computer & *all* the chargers, cords, etc. for my travel electronics which is considerable. Only problem I've ever encountered is cheap motel rooms with only one electric outlet. None of the computers ever seemed to mind the ride.

I carry my MacBook Pro to work in a neoprene sleeve stuffed in a leather messenger bag. No ill effects so far. It's been a year+.

I do consulting work so I oftern travel by bike sometimes 4-500 miles one way and carry my HP laptop. I pack it among the clothes in my saddle bags to mimimize viberations and never had any trouble. Practically all hotels and campgrounds have wifi now, or any truckstop, even McDonalds.

Be patient. Probably not everyone is up yet. I'm sure they will be here.

Uh huh .................. You need to buy a 110/12V auto/plane travel converter for laptops. I found mine on eBay. It can be hard wired into the tour pak or, use a 12V power outlet. I had my local indy install a two wire key'd pigtail w/ the opposite end on the travel converter. Just remember, the converter will get hot so you need to leave cooling space for the fins to discharge heat.

I have got probably 10-25k on a gateway laptop that is in a bag if I use the trailer or the bottom of the tour pack on something soft. I did repkace a hard drive, but who knows if it was just time for it to die or prior vibration.

If I was buying someting to thavel with I wold go with a solid state hard drive.
