If you got the money to spend, get a Panasonic Toughbook CF30. Damn thing goes anywhere, does everything a computer is supposed to do. Pricey as heck, but you said it was for work, and I assume you want something dependable, you should get a work expense tax write off to off set the price. I had a CF29 I liked a lot, but this new CF30 puts it to shame. Check the specs.

They have a CF31 now too, but I don't know first hand about that one. Just a suggestion.

My wife bought a 17" Dell just for taking on road trips for all her pictures. So far so good.

I have been carrying my HP Pavilion around in my Tour Pak for years. I cross country all of the time. This year I replaced my old one with a new 17" one. I figure it will get through the trip as good as the older one. I just carry it in the travel case.

Have drug my 15 incher around all over the place. Just bought a netbook to save on space and weight. like it so far, just keep whatever you have in somewhat of a padded case and you should be ok.

My Dell travels just about everywher I go. No issues yet, probably 10k miles so. Would love to have the panasonic tough book but cant convince my it department. Looking at a netbook also to save space.

I carry an IBM with no issues...I wrap a towel around it in the tour pack.
