I personally know a "man" who in 1990 killed 2 young men while driving drunk. He finally spent 6 months in county jail. ........... He still drives/rides drunk to this day!

See it time and time again, suspended lic. no ins, multiple dui's they all feel they have nothing to lose until an innocent victim gets killed then maybe they'll see jail time although not nearly enough.

Using the particulars in this case then how would it work out if:

The car driver flees like he did and turns himself in after say alcohol leaves his system so he can't be charged with DUI or...

If he would have remained on the scene and been positive on DUI?

So then: Is fleeing like he did and not being convicted of DUI better for him than fleeing and turning himself in after he is alcohol clean?

I'm guessing fleeing the scene and being alcohol clean is actually worse then being DUI.

Don't want to stereo-type or speculate; from the Press Democrat newspaper.

"It appears the suspect vehicle made an illegal left turn, causing the crash, the Department of Public of Safety said. The motorcyclist was listed in critical condition at Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital." (He has since died.)

"The Department of Public Safety said witnesses followed the suspect, Maria Lopez Nunez of Santa Rosa, and officers located her at the Rancho Feliz Mobile Home Park."

This will definitely be one to watch and see how it plays out. I would suggest we keep this thread rockin' on through fulfillment of justice be done.

I'm anxious to see this guy go to a finality that is beyond comprehension, left not to counting the days or the months or the years, but millenniums in a room with no doors... To quote from Meet Joe Black. ie straight to hell.

Aron Clifford Hallum, 22, of Erskine Avenue, was charged with felony hit and run and driving while license revoked, according to arrest warrants. Bond was set at $50,500.
Police said he is an Army military police officer home on leave.
The victim in the Friday afternoon crash in the area of 7 Tunnel Road was identified as Johnnie Nelson Faircloth Jr., 36, of Asheville.
Head-on collision

Police said Hallum fled the scene on foot after he lost control of a 2000 Suzuki Forenza, crossed all lanes of traffic and struck a 2008 Harley Davidson nearly head-on.
The car was headed west and the motorcycle was eastbound, according to police Capt. Tim Splain.
Faircloth and a passenger were thrown from the motorcycle.
Faircloth sustained critical injuries and died at Mission Hospital.
Splain said he believes the passenger was the victim's 8-year-old daughter.
Her injuries didn't appear to be life-threatening.
Driver ran from scene

The driver of the Suzuki ran from the scene, leaving behind the rental car and two passengers.
Splain said the suspect made contact with Asheville police detectives and turned himself in on Friday night.
Investigators plan to discuss with the Buncombe County District Attorney's Office the possibility of additional charges against Hallum, which could include death by vehicle and manslaughter, Splain said.
“There will be a discussion about upgrading the charges,” Splain said.
An arrest warrant states an officer detected a strong odor of alcohol, and a blood sample was drawn from the suspect.
