Default Modified Air Cleaner (Football) Cover

I'm not a big fan of the football A/C cover, I think it covers up too much of the great looking engine that is the icon the bike is built around. So, I bought one off Ebay and gave reworking one a go with an air saw and sander today.

I really did this to remove the rear portion since my knee would be forced out by it when I have the ***** of my feet resting on the highway pegs.

So, I admit, I'm not really impressed with the outcome so far. I've solved the knee issue 100% but it looks a little lopsided to me. It doesn't help that HD had to build the Throttle Actuator like it did. I mean, there is nothing better looking than seeing an unobstructed view of the motor, a great looking motor, so anything that is in the way ain't right in my book.

I've thought about removing the front half to symetrically match the back now but one of the goals was to leave the forward leading edge of the A/C intact to block any water that would get through to the filter from the front tire or wind.

Anyway, gave it a shot; good or bad, your feedback is welcome.

Like the idea, don't like the ugly mounting bolt that's now visable. I've kicked around the idea of the old Evo round unit, but it won't cover the ugly Fly-by-Wire stuff.

I did'nt like the mounting bolt either. Was thinking maybe painting it black or use a chrome bolt and washer. A/C insert may look good too.

Not bad really, and it's unique for sure. If your happy with it, which sounds like you really are not, that is all that matters. For the record though, I vote to cut the rest, and get a sock to put over the filter. That's what my plans are, when my Big Sucker gets here next week.

You have a nice looking color combination, but I have to give a 'thumbs-down' on the modified air cleaner. Must be something out there that you like that wouldn't detract from your bike. Maybe it's just me...
