Default How much rain before you sock your intake?

Those who have open filter intakes, what is your rain/water threshold before you want to sock it?

I was sockless a couple of weeks ago, coming home in a deluge. Was cruising freeway speed on the Wide Glide (SE Heavy Breather), and if I'd try to acelerate, it would miss and sputter...figger'd it was not liking the water it was ingesting. I'll find a place to carry the sock with me from now on, if there's a threat of rain.

Preferably before too much water gets sucked in.........
Better to wrap in in the sock too early than too late.
If I have to stop and pull on rain gear, thats when I'll pull the sock
over my breather........

I've ridden in the rain a lot. Only once or twice has my bike sputtered even a little in the rain. I've got a sock for my air filter in my toolbox, but I've never even test fitted it. Of course, I don't have a heavy breather, just a stage I, so maybe that makes a difference.

I like the concept of rain gear on the body,,,,,rain gear on the air filter. Keep em all together. Along with possible goggles and gloves.

I got caught in a frigging downpour coming through Cinncinati and I had no rain sock. She was sputtering and missing, but I had a neoprene half face shield so I velcro'd it on my air cleaner and that worked great in a pinch. I have one now.

Thre was just a thread on socks yesterday and a lot of guys
just leave the sock on 24/7
Doesn't bother with performance at all'

I'll probably do that once I do get a sock instead of putting it on/taking it off all the time.

I was caught just a couple of days ago in a down pour. I rode for over an hour and the bike never missed a beat. I didn't even know there was such a thing as a sock
