Riding Hawaii

Riding Hawaii
The wife and I are thinking of going to either Kauai or Maui this September for the anniversary. While there, why not rent a bike and see the island properly, I said to myself. It sounded good so I tried it out loud and she agreed! So, has anyone done this and if so any tips on what to look for and what to avoid?
Thanks for any input!

I rented a Road King on the Big Island, had a great time, but a day was all I needed.
Cheers,
James

Lived on Oahu for a number of years, and visited the other islands. Maui is better riding. Some roads are not maintained well, and have a lot of moss on the and can be wet, so corner carefully. The Hana highway on Maui is fantastic. I swear there is a waterfall every couple of miles. Never rods Kauai, but I visited. It is smaller, and the Na Pali coast is beautiful, but not a great ride. Given the choice Maui is the way to go. Given a bigger choice, the Big Island has the best riding.
