Default Reduced Reach HD Seat

Guys,
Is anyone familiar with Harley's reduced reach seat? Comfortable? Worth it? Comments please. I have an 05 Road Glide, a 29" inseam/short arms, and pain in both rotor cuffs. I have a driver backrest, but if I move it up, it bothers my legs. I have Wide Glide bars ready to go on. I've read that the new bars will help a lot, but I am looking at a reduced reach seat to fit my legs better.

Have you looked at one of the lowering kits. There are a couple listed on ebay or you could go with a shorter set of rear shocks. I've got a Reduced Reach seat but haven't had time to put on yet. It'll be next weekend before I get a chance to try it out. I hope it's at least as comfortable as the stock seat. I've also got a lowering kit on order. Look around on the internet for HD dealers offering a discount on prices I saved about 50 bucks on mine thru a dealer in Missouri. If you interested I'll let you know how mine works out.

19 inch inseam????? is this correct and she can handle a Ultra??? I am 5'6" with a 28/29 inseam and I feel like that is right at the limit even with dropped in the front and rear. I am impressed - she is one tough gal, I tip my hat.

I run a Corbin custom - built at the factory to MY butt - it is the best thing since sliced bread - but, since Corbin only does this in CA and FL - that may be tough for you. Have your tried the wide glide bars yet??

Dave,
I'm not intersted a lowering kit....I can reach the ground ok. My Road Glide's handle bar reach is too far for me. I think that is what is tearing up my shoulders. I'm going to try the Wide Glide bars in a week or so. I also want to use my back rest to move me closer to the bars. When I use it now, my legs hurt because I think that they are too far apart as I move closer. The HD reduced reach seat is suppose to move you closer to the bars and at the same time, allow your legs to be closer together. Broken hips are hell. Where did you get the seat in MO? I'm in the St. Louis area.

I tried the reach seat on my 06 Road Glide and did not really care for it. My inseam is 29 inches also. What I found is that it feels like it pushes you into the tank. My legs seemed to be spread wider due to being closer to the tank and last of all I felt the padding was less than it should be...just felt thin under the cheeks.

Hey Mike,
I've got an 05' Roadie with a Corbin Solo reach seat and Touring Reach Handlebars. Still can't reach, I'm searching for new bars. Anyway I'm in the Fenton area send me an e-mail if you want to see the reach seat.

Try Wild1 bars, I am running the 517, however, the baby apes 513 are also a good choice -

end rise width center width pull back

517 8.5 31 10 14.5
513 8.5 35 10 11.5

main difference is the grip angle on the two..

517 are more in and some people do not like that
513 are moved out more.

Wild1 are about the best bars out there... Chubby and look great on any Harley

here is a great link for all HD stock bars and their deminsions
