I got 25 ponies and 30 ft/lb of torque with cams, air filter, pipes, and a T-Max on my 96" for right at $2300 (already had the pipes). A PCIII instead of the T-Max would have cut that by $600. I had my indy do all the work. With you doing all the work, you could expect similar gains for much less.

I don't want to hijack the thread, but thought some of you folks could help me as well.
I have a 05 Ultra - at my 1000K mile I put in a stage 1 (SE filter and SE slip-ons and a PC III). At the end of last summer I was hit from behind, while in the shop I had the following done: 95" kit installed, V&H oval slip-ons (don't make the SE slip-ons I had any longer). and the newest SERT and dyno done. I want my power to be in the 2200 - 3500 rpm range. And that's what I have now and it's noticeable improvement over what I had. Now my question... If I wanted to punch it up another notch in that RPM range doing mostly 2 up riding... What cams? I almost never ride above 4,000 rpms.

Thanks,
Joe

the price range he gave you is fair and I will tell you this, I've been riding Harley's for over 25 years, I am not a newbie like many here , 100-105 hp and 100-105 torque is a great combination and if you ever rode a bike with those numbers you wouldn't go back, if you gave me a choice of a 6 year old bike with those numbers or a new stock motor I'd be down at the shop getting the work done as I type, this is a good range for dependability and rideabililty

Two years ago, I did a cam-only swap on my '04 EG with Rinehart TD's and SE a/c. Used Head-Quarters HQ-0034 cams and haven't thought about a 95" build since.

It really just depends on what you want for the $$$. I'm happy with my bike as is, and it runs as strong or stronger than some of the popular 95" BB kits out there.

You have a six year old bike with only 16K miles; so why drop a lot of $$$ on something you don't ride that often?

good selection of improvements in the rpm band width you asked for are found in these cams; andrews TW-21, TW-26. crane HTC-300. screaming eagle 203. these are bolt in apps, no need to change pushrods, valve springs etc. it is recommended that you install the hydraulic cam chain tensioner no matter what.

Stage 2 95" big bore kit with a good 2 into 1 exhaust and you'll never look back.

If you can only do one thing, put a 2 into 1 exhaust on, even if you have to use a ghost pipe for that "balanced" look.

Read the article at that link, specific to TC 88's. I had the Andrew 21G cams put in, and couldn't be happier with the result. Only other mods were stage 1 download and aircleaner, modified stock exhaust, and the Boyesen X Wing.

I went with the S&S 510G's the cam price with instal along with all the other parts in my sig were 2600.00 at my indie's. You can see the HP and TQ at the end of the sig. I ride 2-up only occasionally and really like where this set-up comes on. Have no problems staying up with my brothers 103 BB Road King.

Assuming I change from the SE II's to a 2-1 exhaust, what other cheap mod would get me more torque for my carbed '05? I don't rev much, but would like some more kick in the lower end.
Edit: never mind: the link MNPGrider posted was about exactly that: I was expecting another drag racing mod.

My Dad had a Dealer service writer (myself) buy the parts at discount and his mechanic at the dealership friend do the work in his garage. Tuned the bike at the dealership.

Did a 95 inch kit on his 04 Ultra, 204 cams, stock heads, stage 1 intake, rinehart true duals, HD Race Tuner.

At the end he was pushing 86hp at the rear wheel and 104ft-lbs of torque. The bike hauls and is extremely rideable. He had that done at 5k miles in 2004 and is now at 27k miles with (knock on wood) not one damn issue and the bike still runs perfect.

Cost about 2000-2500 all in. You just need some better friends .
