An easy way of answering your question is what size fuse does that aux circuit on your bike have? If you want to run a pair of 55watt lamps you will need a minimum of say 10amps.

If you buy a set of Harley spots, or an aftermarket set designed for your bike, the kit will come with the correct wiring you need to install, including a relay (the best way IMHO).

Thanks for the info, I see that the aux is a 15 amp fuse but I have decided to use a relay & only use the aux circuit to control it

I am considering wiring my fog lights as IP stated above but I do have a couple questions that were not answered.

JBLEIM: did you ever find out why you were blowing fuses?

IP: Can you send me the pictures you posted, for some reason I can't see them in thread. Also, I am assuming the turn signal connect under the fairing will handle the amps the fog lights.

This seems to be the best and easiest way to install fog lamps, just have to pull the fairing and fairing cap off and wire.

Anyone esle wire the fog lights this way?

I have the engine guard part of the install figured out.

thanks

I'd love fog lamps, but am not willing to give up the (vented) lowers - they let my legs still work in cooler weather

Anyone seen a setup that works with the lowers ?

Get the new LED auxiliary lights. Twice the price but far brighter, draw less power and work with faired lowers.

I'm sure that with a set of them in hand plus a little time and handiwork they could be married together!

I also put these fog lights on my '11 SG. Powered the relay from the +B terminal under the seat added a 15 amp fuse, pulled a 14 gauge wire under the tank in the existing harness on the left side, Added a spot switch to the console panel powered it from the cig lighter. works like it should, puts out a lot of light around the front.

To figure your circuit loads add up all the watts involved and divide it by volts which will be 12. This will tell you the amps you will be using.

Default Installation Sheet

Can anybody attach a copy of the installation for the Harley fog lamps? The H-D site has a lot of the instructions available in PDF but this ain't one of them. Never mind found it in an earlier post. Lotsa good info here. I will have to hang around a lot more.
