I have both the pods and bags on an 08 Ultra. They fit fine behind a 6" or taller windshield. Any shorter windshield and the corners of the bag protrude past the windshield.

 

Your right, but if your sheild has the v shaped slots and not just holes for mounting you can mount the bag down as far as it will go and fudge the sheild up a skosh to cover the corners, or run a taller sheild like you have. Either way they work well together. Since the pics I've posted were taken I changed out my sheild to a 5" Clarks flat top, partially for that reason, more for the extra 1" (or so) of sheild they have on either side. Don't have pics of that set up but will post if any bodies interested.

It will work even though some dealers and others say no. But make sure it's what you want, cause your drilling holes in your fairing and then its "too late baby"
