you are absolutely right about them being so lean from the factory. Even a stock bike will benefit from a little richer fuel mix. That's why I went with XIED's from Niterider.com on my 08 UC and I've got a set ordered for my wifes 2010 SG Trike. They enrichen the fuel mix from 14.7.1 to 13.8 my 08 runs good and strong with them. I have Jackpot's and SE AF on it. I'm going with the same setup on my wife's. Lot cheaper!

I'm sure I'm in the minority here but I don't think you need to do a bunch of expensive work to get the Streetglide running well with a nice sound. I played around with a bunch of different things on my 2010 Streetglide and ended up with simply a SE high flow kit, the Harley stage one download and a Carriage Works slip-on muffler. My bike runs great, has plenty of power, and sounds great. I have the stock header with the catalyst in place and see no need to change it.

Finnally a sane man...lol We've been running cat's in our car's and truck's for years with no problems, why not bikes! Plus...now that Tipper has kicked Al Gore to the curb, he will be on a rampage....look out...don't take those cat's off...LOL

I just picked up my first Harley, a '10 SG in Vivid Black. Naturally, it needs exhaust. Right now I'm just looking for a slip-on and I'm pretty sure I've decided on a Bub "7" 2 into 1 slip-on. My questions..

From all that I have read and can see in pictures, the Bub "7" exhaust seems to be made pretty well and all in all, good quality... and from the videos I've seen, I like the sound. Am I correct on this or am I totally off base?

Secondly, I can't help but notice on my brand new bike that after running it a bit (not particularly hot, 75F and riding on the freeway), it smells almost like there's a coolant leak. It's not leaking or burning anything, but it definitely has a distinct smell. Now, obviously, I know it's air cooled so that's not the case but I'm curious if that's just a smell that goes away or what they all seem to "smell" like.

Other than that, all I have planned for now is to change the tri-bar light into a brake light and smoke out the rear "signals" and front signals and enjoy it!

Thanks in advance guys... appreciate it.

Any ideas on the coolant-like smell I was asking about? I know it's obviously not coolant
Is it just me? Or do those 2 statements seem to contradict one another?

I didn't own the Road King. I put about 5000 miles on it, but it wasn't mine and I didn't do any of the modifications; It was on the bike when I took it and began putting miles on it.

When people say a Screamin Eagle "high flow kit" do they mean this?
http://www.harley-davidson.com/gma/g...bmLocale=en_US

I ask because there's a ton of SE-intake stuff, though that's the only "stage-1 kit" thing that I can see. It looks like basically a breather, new filter, some fittings etc....

The SE high flow kit is basically a new air filter, backing plate and the mounting parts. The kit you referenced is the wrong one - that's for the evo motor. You want part # HD 29260-08 which is for 08 later touring models. But, a better deal is the Arlen Ness Stage 1 Big Sucker - same thing except it comes with a K&N filter (better than the HD filter) and you can order a chrome backing plate (instead of the ugly pot metal HD item) for only a few $ more.

Thank you sir, I'll be sure to get the right thing when it comes around.

Looks like slip-on first, HD Stage-I adjustment and then a high flow of some sort, Arlen ness or the HD. Prolly the HD so they don't bitch about my warranty.

Save yourself some money and get the Fuel Moto performance package for it. Intake, PCV, Powertube Muffler and 2 into 1 Headpipe. I'll know next week how much difference the headpipe makes over stock. Paid for the f'in thing nearly 3 months ago!

On that note, someone that can provide you canned maps that can get you "Close" is invaluable. Well, 400+ dollars per dyno tune invaluable.

Sometime in the near future I'll install cams and then get it actually dyno tuned. No 2 bikes are the same.
