I don't want us to stop all offshore drilling. But there has to be better safe guards, more devices placed on ALL new wells so this can't happen again. Anything less is irresponsibility. But oil companies have been known to put profits first and have shortcuts in safety procedures.
And of course all BP's solutions revolve around being able to access the oil again. If our elected officials would grow a pair they should have said right off "BP, you are out, we will get someone else to fix the problem, and you are paying for it". This would eliminate any worry that there may be a better solution, just not better for BP. I mean really, if you had a doctor F up a procedure on you, would you have that same doctor be the one to fix it?
