I'm with you on this. Shame on the U.S. for letting a foreign company drill that far down with no contingency plans. Man, I have to supply blueprints to my town hall to get a permit to build a shed, but we give BP a permit to drill a mile underwater without asking any questions.

And of course all BP's solutions revolve around being able to access the oil again. If our elected officials would grow a pair they should have said right off "BP, you are out, we will get someone else to fix the problem, and you are paying for it". This would eliminate any worry that there may be a better solution, just not better for BP. I mean really, if you had a doctor F up a procedure on you, would you have that same doctor be the one to fix it?
