Need to ship bike from NH to Sturgis
#22
It may be sad to ship a bike to Bike Week, but in a lot of cases it also may be necessary.
Last year a bunch of my friends and I rented a house outside of Lead, SD for a week used 7 days of vacation, and spent 7 of those days actually in and around Sturgis. If we had ridden out there (which we are all quite capable of) that 7 would have been cut down to probably 3 or 4. The house we rented would have cost the exact same (it had a 7 night minimum).
Shipping our bikes was a time saving issue for us.
Ya' know I've never understood ragging on trailer/shippers. It really doesn't matter how you get to the dance, it only matters what you do when the music starts.

All True..It doesn't matter.

I'd rather spend my time riding the scenery out there and seeing sites than spending 3 days riding from NH to SD on the highway doing 80mph for 10 hours a day. F' that.

I've ridden hundreds of thousands of miles since I was 18 (a long time ago) and I've seen plenty of super slabs. And I've done the unplanned 2-week bike vacation to different parts of the country already, several times.
I didn't want to spend my vacation that way this time. Why is that anybody else's concern?
And BTW? The riding in the Black Hills is outstanding. Day trippin to the Badlands, Devil's Tower, Crazy Horse Memorial and Mount Rushmore was great!!!
Why ya' gotta hate?

It's all relevant. I get two weeks vacation a year. I could spend that two weeks riding all over the west one more time.
Or.......I could ship my bike to Miami, ride to Key West, then ride all the way back across the country.
We're going to do the latter in a few months. You ride your ride and I'll ride mine. It's all about the journey, not the destination.

Ok,
SOOOO...getting back to my original question about hauling from NH to SD...if you don't have any relevant info, go start your own thread on how you like to ride to SD rather than ship because you're a super rider.

I'd still highly recommend Old School Motorcycle Transport...Last year they picked up right at Stamford H-D for us. I think we paid under $900 per bike for the round trip, YMMV.
