Tell me about siting in the Helinox chair. Looks like you are "back" in the chair, kinda like it wouldn't be comfortable trying to sit on the edge, back straight? Like, sitting on the front edge of the chair, elbows on your knees kinda thing? Hope I'm explaining that clearly.

You do sit "in" the chair. I find it to be comfortable. I've even fallen asleep in it.
If possible, try to head to an outdoor/camping store like a REI, EMS, Cabela's, etc to try one out.
Or read the reviews on Amazon.

Yep. Your in it. Kinda like a recliner somewhat. And after a long day. It's just what I am looking for. I've fallen asleep in mine too.

Gotta remember. It's a compact chair. It fits in a saddle bag. it's not going to be like a full size chair. But it beats a bench on a picnic table all day long.

There are so many of those compact lightweight backpack camper style chairs to pick from Amazon these days. I have several. Cheap too.

Well, when this thread was created in 2010, the Kermit chair was the one to get. Nine years later, I'm happy to see it's still on top of the heap (I bought two of them). Somebody make a note to bring this thing back from the dead in 2029 so we can recheck.

One thing about mine is that they fit in a saddlebag (RKC leather bag). Not sure about those stage II Kermits with beer holder and leg extensions.

I use one of those Tube air chairs off of Amazon. $30 and it folds down about as small as your rain gear.

That`s for us old people who don`t like getting out of short chairs......

Other options are:

1) Teach the wife to ride and buy her a bike.

2) Trailer
3) Pull a trailer behind the bike with all the gear you want.
