Ultra light weight camping gear for back packers is the only way to go. You can get everything you need for several days, including food, under 45-50lbs. It's not only light weight, it's also very compact.

Do you know how long it is when packed? If it fits in your tourpak, I suppose it would fit in my T-bag, but it seems like the poles might be too long for that. No?

Both of those items look pretty slick. Do you know how long that tent is when packed? Do you carry it inside your bags, or sling it underneath?

These look like another good option. Same question about the length. Do you know?

That looks really slick. Where did you get yours? Their website indicates only costco.com as a source, and they don't have any on their site.

I think I paid about $120 for our dome off Fleabay (buy it now listing) and with 54" headroom, it's really big for two, with all our gear inside.
If you're a procrastinator like me, or one who pushes to the end of the day, again, like I do, it's not unheard of to be setting the tent up in the dark, or after the rains have started.

Your dome tent sounds like a good solution too. How do you pack it on the bike? In a T-Bag, tourpak, or tied on somehow?

Thanks everyone for your suggestions. This is very helpful.

Depends on what you need and mean by tent camping.
I have several dome tents that we use when we go camping.
And I have a Bike tent that packs about 24 inches long by 2-3 in diameter.
It's just big enough to sleep 2 people without gear.
I use it when we just need a place to crash until the next morning.

There is always the "Bikertent" at http://bikertent.com/.
You get half and your bike is shelftered in the other half. Web shows it on sale for $200.00 now.

..it packs to a length of about 24" by 6" around..lay it across the saddlebags on the back seat or luggage rack and strap it to the sissy bar..

I always like to add this link to camping threads; it's the most valuable tool, IMO:
http://wetleather.com/reference/camping.html

and this one is semi-related:

A luggage rack is almost a certain necessity if you camp, unless you don't mind scratches on your back fender. I even cover mine with MF cloths to protect the chrome.

Thanks. I'm assuming you meant motocampers.com. Is that right?

Big and roomy, easy setup/take down and under $30 at Big5. My bike is hauling it, not my back.
