Default check engine light question

thanks in advance for all your guys help this forum is #1 in my book...the past few days iv noticed after i started my 06 rk classic my engine light would come back on for a few seconds then go out...but today it did the same thing and after riding a bit the light came back on and stayed on..i came home looking thru forum and my service manual i went back out to check some connections and relized my spark plug wire was loose..i snaped it back on tight and started the bike ..but the light came back on for a few seconds then out again...my question is could this have caused the light to come on and will it recycle thru on its own if the loose spark plug wire was the problem.how can i tell?..thanks in advance

Yes it will cause a code.

If the light is going out, the code is a historic (or saved code) and needs to be cleared.

Read this thread, it will give you the specifics.

Check the codes and see what the code is. If it's a no combustion code, it's probably it. You can then clear the code.

pull them through the speedo. Check in the diagnostic section in the DIY section and it will tell you how to do it. Basically, switch on run and hold in the odo reset button while turning the ignition switch to on. Then go through each area and check for codes.
