The dipstick rubs the casting for the clutch cable on the inside of the transmission (on some bikes). The vibration of the motor causes the dipstick to eventually break off into the trans either being chewed up or locking the trans thus locking the rear wheel at speed.
Do a search on google or here. You can look down in the dipstick hole and see the bump sticking out and you can look about halfway on your dipstick and either see a worn or discolored place where it will eventually snap off.
I cut mine off so that all that I have is a cap and I have a spare to check the fluid level.
