Default 06 SG Totaled; 06 or 07?

Monday, on my way to work, I was t-boned on the right side. No major injuries (but I did get a ride in a helicopter); concussion, dislocated shoulder, road rash. I'm still waiting to hear back about the insurance, but I'm trying to decide if I want to find another 06 or go with an 07. Either way, I'm probably going to go with a big bore stage 2 kit. The dealer told me if I would use all Harley parts, it wouldn't void my warranty, so I'm probably going to take that route. Any suggestions or opinions? Would an 06 with a stage 2 kit get me near 90 tq and 90 hp? Tell me what you think.

I'll post a pic of the bike when I figure out how to resize the file ...

07 sounds good. I haven't heard anything bad about em. Friend bought a street glide about a month ago and he's lovin it.
Needs louder pipes though.

I think a large part of your decision is how long you can wait to get the numbers you want. The reason I say that is that the parts currently exist in mass for the 06 model. But we are still waiting for them to become more readily available for the 07. Also, the aftermarket is still playing catch up to the changes made in the motor for 07. I think given time, people will be able to hop up the 07 version of the motor.. But the key statement here is "given time"

WOW! Youre a lucky fellow!!!!Yep, I tried to order some of the 07 parts in the 07 catalog I got a month ago, oil cooler and a few items, and they are not even in the parts system yet, and when they checked harleys site for avalibility, it listed as no ETD, so it might be months before these parts hit the shelf. but I would definatley go 07, if you read this forum you will hear, 07, noisey 5th gear but little else and then the 06 has shown to be a problem year, injectors, motor mounts, radio and more, plus they will be the only year harley outside calif to have the catalist mufflers, except SE models, move forward not backward!

Many of my friends are riding '06 Ultras, different bike but same year, and are having all kinds of problems with them. One even turned in his '06 for another '06 and guess what - the same frikin' problems.

Go for the '07

Only reason to go with an 06 is to save money. Someone else is paying for a new bike...wait for the 07. Who cares about hitting those numbers within a few weeks anyway. Wait and get whats best in the long run.

I was told the reason for not releasing larger engine kits for the 07 models is that HD is waiting for feed back on the new setup. I would not spend money without knowing what can be done with the new bikes, maybe put some money down for a October delevery with the understanding from the dealer on what will be installed on delevery. At that time if they can not do a build to your agreement then I would look a a used 06 and get what you want done. I like my 06 Street Glide and I had a six speed put in from the start. Six speed is really only good for around 70 and up at steady speed. Glad to hear you are OK and looking to get back in the saddle.

You don't really need a stage two kit to get close to those numbers. Have a look at this link: Click on the orange 2007 Harley Davidson button

http://www.fuelmotousa.com/

I traded my 2006 for a 2007 and could not be happier with the performace gains to start with. Go for the 07 if you have the choice.
