Yes it works. If you already have the blocks then its worth it. No need to change out the oil if you don't have to. Also since you have an 09, you wont have any issues with the exhaust. just need to loosen the heat shields. The older bike required the removal of the exhaust
Haven't done the swap yet but I cut down the short side of a 3/16" Allen wrench to fit on the lower bolt with the exhaust in place. I'm hoping to get the clutch cover off with only having to remove the heat shield, and not the exhaust itself.
Tried that, won't work. It will get the bolt started out but when it gets out so far you will back into your pipe. Ended up having to use ball end t-handle allens on mine. Had to be very careful not to muff up the heads on the bolts..

I figured at some point I would have to grab the head of the bolt with my fingers or pliers.

Only if you have the factory headers. No need to remove the exhaust if you have true duals.
