I use mine on my 08 and have no problems. I talk to truckers all the time and they haven't mentioned any scratchy sounds. I agree you should take it to a good CB shop for a tuneup.

Default Mines **** as well

I have an 08 Model and have tried all the adjustments and can only get a range of about 300 yards and it is as scratchy as hell, tried changing headsets in the helmet but still the same.
Went from the long whippy ariels to the 2010 short HD ariels but still no difference. Rider to pillion is fine and so is radio, just the CB is crap. Big thumbs down to HD for this....but of course as soon as you say anything to them you get the standard answer...."Oh, you are the first to have this problem", YEAH RIGHT!!!!!

Works fine on my 2010 Ultra. Very clear reception compared to my old 03
Goldwing. If there is whining noise on receive that may suggest a ground loop. Find a friendly ham to give you a hand.

I'm on my 3rd ultra and on every one of them the CB has worked flawless.

I installed the HD CB in a 2007 Road Glide using a low mounted tunable CB antenna and 18' of coax coiled up in the fairing. I set the SWR and checked the power output(9 watts!!). Don't know what's going on with that. It works great. The radios are fine, antenna setup less than perfect i think.

Yes , I am aware of swr. I have a meter. Have had cb's since the early 70's. Swr will not have any thing to do with picking up electronic ingine noies. Even my high dollar Connex in my truck has a very faint whinning.... My Harley CB when recieving is picking up engine noise. Not a whine but a really loud bbrraapp bbrraapp. Have not tried to transmit yet. Used to be for trucks you could but a noise filter that was suposed to filter out the eltronic engine noise. They helped some what,. mabie a ground or something will help?????????????? Or HD can fix it or give me another???????????

If the bike is still under warranty I'd take it back. The noise you describe is not normal. The Connex is an illegal rig here in Canada.

Dave, I think you may have missed calculating the coax's velocity factor. I found a 1/2 wave worked out to around 12 feet for RG58 CU.

My wife (2007 Ultra) and I (2008 RG) both have the H-D CBs and they work fine.

Our riding club uses CB, mostly HD units, plus one Gold Wing and one guy with a J&M setup. They all work fine. I was having some problems with mine...figured out that the FM antenna and the CB antenna were reversed. Swapped them and no problems since.
