Default Adjusting pushrods, how long to wait for the lifter to "bleed up".

I am going to be adjusting the pushrods on a 2004 Ultra. After I loosen the pushrod how long do I have to wait for the lifter to "bleed up" to the top of it's travel before I set zero lash and then adjust the preload?

Also, what is the proper way to ensure that the top of the pushrod is seated properly in the rocker socket?

The spring in the lifter should push the plunger to the top as you shorten the pushrod. You should also be able to feel when the rod is seated in the rocker arm. Move it around and you should feel it drop in the socket and stay there.

I asked about "bleed up" before setting the lash, not "bleed down" after setting it.

It happens pretty quick less than a minute it has spring working it is favor too but I have found myself waiting a five inutes to make sure so I don't have to go adjust again.

There is NO set amount of time you wait, you have to wait until you can spin the push rod, it could be as little as a couple minutes and Ive seen it take half an hour.

Besides he asked about "bleed up" (which Ive NEVER been asked about before) but like was said above its as soon as you shorten the pushrod.
