Default Thanks Glide pro, front motor mount installed

My roadglide has about 30k on it. Thought I was being pro-active... ordered the upgraded urethane front motor mount from Glide Pro.. installed it this afternoon... easy install. The stock motor mount was still intact, but torn about 1/3 around... so it would have gone soon. Usually my timing sucks but I guess even a blind squirrel finds a nut now and then.

pisses me off tho that the stock HD motor mount only lasts 30k miles. My guess is that oil draining down when I remove the oil filter was softening the rubber mount. At least the Glide Pro mount is urethane and should not be affected.

Did you notice any difference in vibration with the new mount?

Default Glide Pro Soft????

I installed a Glide Pro front mount on my Road Glide recently. I haven't noticed an increase in vibration.

The Glide Pro mount felt softer than the stock mount IMO.

Anyone else think it was soft???????

I've been through a good number of motor mounts with only 24k on the clock. My favorite is the old HD 79B, nice and smooth. Only problem is they don't last. HD's later versions are horrible, plenty of vibration. I installed a Glide -pro about 4k miles ago and no problems. I would say that the vibs are somewhere between the original 79B and the later versions. I think I'll keep it.

Default trying Japanese front mount

i emailed buyers of this evo front mount and they were happy with it, the seller said he had tracked the source for the old style mount and it was softer than the new HD. so far so good , it is settling in quickly but anyone else use a bigger bolt thru it instead o fthe tiny gr.8 skinny thing?
TIA, bw

Default went back to old mount which isn't broken - new one so-so

the mount i mentioned in my last post quieted down a bit after 350 Miles, then i put the untorn but soft original back in - bingo?
totally smooth silky riding. sure wish i could get a new one of the original design. will keep the new one for next time, it was annoying vibration and windshield , instrument, mirror shake, while the old mount, soft and untorn, gives totally clear mirrors, instruments, and a ride that just doesn't want to stop. shakes more at idle , of course, but so did my new 1991 flhtp. sadly, bad hip required me to sell bike for medical repairs, 6 years just wrenching, but 2008 medical repiar, 2009 buy VERY used 1989 police special, now riding it! yahoo!

anyone know if the velvaride is soft? is there an older evo mount that you can press the rubber in a bit with your thumb without hurting yourself?

Older mount designs ...

Buell # L0501.2
Drag Spec # DS243515

Can not state if they are better or worse than the new HD design, but they look like the older design.
