Bad Information on Torx Screws

For the most part there is a lot of good information on this site...But I have run into some bad info too...The funny thing is when you try to correct someone on the bad info...They cop an attitude...One thing about motorcycles some people will own one for a month and they become an instant expert...Or change their own oil and they are instant techs...You just have to sift through some of the bull snit to get to the good info.

All I can say is.....it is very amazing what you can read in here. Obviously, to become a self assured and appointed expert all you need is to have access to the internet and know how to type with no brain power or common sense involvement required. TICH

I know it is an old thread. I had never heard of Torx plus. Looked it up and here is what I found according to this article. The Torx plus and Torx should work either way they are compatible for field use. The torn plus tool with a torx plus screw is a better set up for tool life and less change of stripping. I do know that on 09 Ultra the tool kit that came with the bike does not work well with the Torx fasteners on the bike. I have always thought they were too small. They have a very sloppy fit and I would not want to put any real torque on them.

You have to be careful with the Torx you pick in the HD Tool kit, IT HAS A T25 bit that is too small and "SLOPPY" fitting for the dreby covers but there are fasteners on the bike that require a T25 bit. I have had no issues with any Torx fasteners yet. I actually have had more incidents of Allen head fasteners failing than Torx. My HD tool kit works fine.
