Anyone have the center of the air cleaner break out? Mine was mounted on the SE air cleaner and lasted a couple thousand miles and just fell off while riding down the highway. I have seen a thread refering to a rubber gasket or washer needed to keep down the vibration, but mine didn't come with one. Did I have misisng parts? I have had it on the bike for more than the 90 day warranty from HD. Any suggestions?

 

You have to buy the gasket separately. I've had mine on for 10k miles or so and no problems.

 

The Gasket is required to keep the Cover from resting on the backing plate. It also prevents the cover from rotating. You probably waaaay over torqued it too.
Did the screw pull through the filter or the cover? Either way, you'll be buying one or the other.
I made my own gasket out of 1/2" rubber. Also bought a longer chrome screw.

 

Mine did the same thing. I would guess that it had a stress fracture from the manufacturer. I looked at the new one I bought to make sure it did not have a stress fracture before I bought it. Bought the round one because it looks better than the football.
