Default First Harley after 40 years of riding metrics

Just wanted to thank the forum for helping to solve some issues I had with my Harley 2001 Road King. The bike shows nice with out a scratch or rub on it with 12000 miles on it. I bought it with a stripped heel shifter, minimal front brake pressure at the lever, and a loud squeak on decel when the drive belt was cold and some low speed jerking from a loose primary chain. I don't know if it ever had been serviced. Although the manual covers a lot it doesn't come close to the feed back you can get from the forum and it's archives. Again, Thanks for helping me get started.

Yeah, this is really a great forum. Anytime I have to do something new on my bike, I do a search of the project. If I don't come up with something I am comfortable with then I'll post the question of how to do it. I always get good info and tips.

Thanks forum!

It isn't expensive to replace the shifter shaft. Cheaper yet to file sides of the slot so it squeezes together more.
Check the front brake pads, they may be due for replacement. You may be low on brake fluid, I'd flush the system and replace with new fluid.

Heel shifter still stripped?
Take it off!
Put on part number 35471-05.
It is a chrome cover for the shaft end. Lots more room for your left foot as well.
$14.95
