The bike is just an inch or so too high. Is there a better option than the HD low profile shocks? I can't find lowering blocks that will work without modifying the bags. Should I lower both the back and front? If so can you explain (newbie trying to learn).

I would do nothing for now! Ride it and get used to it. Try riding boots with thicker soles to give you a little help. Being a shortass I have always had to stretch to reach the ground and am still getting by after 40 years of riding. Put the money new shocks will cost you in the tank!

So here is the deal. I ended up with a set of 1.5" shorter shocks from Bitchin Baggers. They are the perfect fit for me, made the bike seem much lighter and way easier to handle. On the recommendation from Ron at BB I also purchased the HD front fork lowering kit, still waiting for my local shop to install. Can't say enough good things about Stacey and Ron at Bitchin Baggers, excellent service, great advice and a great product. They will do any custom length shock you want.

I have a 2010 SG. It was too tall. Put 11.5" 440 Progressive shocks on rear and also the HD front lowering kit. It really helped with the 29" inseem. It just rode too hard. I had the front lowering kit and 12" shocks on my 03 RKC it rode hard but nothing compared to the SG. I put the front back to stock. I tried to go to the new Harley adjustable 12" shock felt too tall. So I am back to the 11.5" Progressive's on the rear, with the stock front end. I thought with the lowered front it was going to knock the fairing clear off of it, I ride easy. Good luck, it is a give and take.

If you only need a inch or so... Id just change the seat! I put a badlander on my 10 SG and I freakin love it! I have only rode a little over 200 miles in a day with it but I actually think its as comfy as the stock seat and I can touch flat-footed now.

for those of you who may be vertically challenged, there's hope. fashion trends seem to come and go, perhaps platform shoes will come back in style.

Lots of good things being said about the new Progressive 940-Series Touring Shocks. They're supposed to provide the same travel as the standard 13" bagger shocks, but still lower the seat height by 1". They have a secondary spring and are adjustable by hand. There's a post on them in the Motorcycle Parts For Sale section of this Forum, and the poster offers a good discount on them.
