Have you set the sag on the 440's? Sounds like you may be running them too soft.

Just a thought!

The quality of the latest touring bikes gets commented on here every few weeks! Some owners seem to like them, others seem to suggest nothing changes. The one thing we can all be certain of is that Harley still hasn't solved the problem of low quality suspension on their premium bike range.

IMHO opinion things change as soon as we take a passenger, especially if she is the love of our life. The rider sits over the swingarm pivot, so when hitting a pothole the rider does not experience the same reaction from the bike as the passenger, who is sitting right over the wheel axle. In other words riding solo is much less hassle for the rider than when 2-up it is for the passenger.

If you ride often with a passenger it seems to me to be almost compulsory to find better shocks, no matter how new or old your dresser is!

I think my 03 FLSTS rides every bit as good as my 09 FLHX. I sit lower and more into the bike and not on it. My streetglide handles like a sportbike in comparison around corners. I am glad to have one of each to ride depending on the mood and destination. Pffffffft!

In my experience I would start with the shocks. A new seat will not sort out the short-comings of the suspension.

I actually put an electra glide standard seat on my 07 street glide for my wife. It does not look as nice, but it really improved the ride for her. She has a herniated disk so it was a big deal compared to the stock seat.

When you ride 2 up what preasure are you using in your air shocks? When you ride solo what preasure are you running? It makes a big difference.

+1 on the stock seat. We just bought my wife a 2010 SG Trike. The first time She rode behind me on it, she said this seat has got to go. We bought a Sundowner deep bucket because we will eventually add a detach tour-pak for two up when I can't hold my UC up....hope that's a few years!!!!
