Got my first "motorcycle" when i was 27, 1998 Yamaha V-Star Custom 650. I out grew it in about a week...but my wallet didn't. My 2008 Ultra will be my first true touring bike (bought it while I was here in Afghanistan, and haven't even sat on it yet)...my wife and I always felt like i had to wind the rubberband a bit tighter on the yama-hog. D&mn...this is a long deployment...can't wait to get back and ride my bike.

Stay safe over there!

ON the other end, We just bought our first sportster,,, heading the other direction I guess. Had to get it to show off the universal windshields at shows. But I will admit the little sportster is fun to putt around on, getting on it after being on the Road King is a real change. its like going from a b-17 to a mustang.

Some great stories on this thread. I bought my first in November 2011, 2010 Ultra. It was my first HD too. I had a 750 shadow for the last 5 years. I put 11k miles on it. I have had the ultra for little over 6 months and have over 6000 miles on it. The reasons are the radio, fairings, and bags. I can pretty much ride year round, listen to my music, and carry all my junk around. I will always have one now. Wish I would have found it years ago.

Bought my bagger in March. Traded a Sportster 48 and am totally in love. The miles are so easy on it. I do miss my sporty for around town though. Wish I could have both.

I be new here from the softail forum. Just got my new 2012 vivid black SG.....32 miles old. It had 3 when I pulled out of the dealer's lot. Just got done putting on some V&H twin slash rounds, that helped but I think I will get around to doing the true duals though and get rid of those cats.

So far....life is cool!

I just bought a 2012 RKC three weeks ago last Saturday. I traded in my 05 Super Glide, couldn't be more pleased.

My third Harley. Went from Dyna - Softail - Now Ultra Classic. I miss the looks of my Deluxe but the comfort of that Batwing and the radio I cannot see going back. The miles just pile up so much easier.

Have to agree. I purchased my SG in February and I already have 2700+ miles on it...in Minnesota mind you.

I wish I had done this years ago. I will always have some sort of touring model for now on.
