Who is riding Touring Harley for the first time?

Traded my 72 El Camino "garage ornament" for a 97 Ultra a couple of months ago. Put 3k miles on it (it was down for 3 weeks with a bad charging system)and I really like the comfort and storage, but if I had to dump something, the Ultra would have to go, the FXR will always have a parking place in my shop.
The Ultra is like the fat woman at home who cooks for me and makes me comfortable. The FXR is the crazy bitch on the side that is exiting and I can't stay away from.
Maybe I'm just not ready for the Geezer Glide lifestyle. I'm only 59.

I just traded a 2010 Triumph Thruxton for a 2011 Road Glide and I ain't lookin back. I've owned 2 HDs previously and 2004 Sporty and 2005 Low Rider. I must say the RG doesn't have ALL the lean angle the Thruxton does but it sure falls right into the curves as easily. The RG is much easier to ride than the Low Rider I had.

Two weeks into my first touring bike, just picked up an '11 Road Glide Custom with the Power Pak and I love it! Traded in my '06 Softail Deuce, purchased new in the fall of '05, which was my first Harley. Getting my 1K service done tomorrow a.m. then it's off to Estero, FL, a 2000+ mile round trip.

I started out as a little kid with a Tecumseh powered mini-bike; I've always had a bike in the garage, (over 40 years with a bike now) but thought I was finally done with it this Spring. Never owned a Harley; I've had numerous Honda dirtbikes, a Yamaha 650 Special, several Honda 750's, then went to a GW 1200, a Suzuki Cavalcade, a couple of GW 1500's, and at the end a couple of GW 1800's. I won't kid you; the Goldwings are great bikes - fast, smooth, great handling, comfortable and reliable. I just got bored with them. My wife is a tall gal, and she rode her own Wing also. After she totaled her Wing by Afton, MN a few years ago(on the St. Croix Scenic byway) she kind of lost her nerve. We replaced the Wing, but we never took any more trips after that. Sold both the Wings in July, but within a month I was already thinking I had been a little hasty. Just didn't feel like having another Wing. After test driving an Electra Glide I kind of went "wow, this is kind of exciting again." I ended up buying a 2001 EG Ultra with low miles, Jade green. I'm into it again. My GoldWing buddies are giving me crap about crossing over to the dark side, but who cares. Yeah, it's slower, doesn't handle as well, but when I ride it I can't help but grin. That's what it's all about, right? Biking is fun again.
