Just bought my first touring bike...in 29 years! Went from a '78 FLHP to a '89 FXSTC then a '03 Heritage and now a '18 Road King! Wish I had kept the Shovelhead, still have the Evo and the TC.
...got my first bike in 36 years. Last one I had I sold in 1981 or 82 but I always kept my endorsement on my license because I just knew that someday I would ride again. The stars and planets aligned just right and I'm enjoying it again...
That's my story too... Last one in 1988... 30 years later here we are! Bought it Memorial Day weekend!
Not my first time but after just buying my 2018 it might as well be. This thing is such a HUGE improvement over past bikes in pretty most every department!
Who on here has purchased thier first touring Harley Davidson?
I am new to Harley and baggers. Many years of riding. My last being customized vtx 1800.
Now on an 04 Ultra Classic . Big change in riding position and style, But I love it!

Reason: Miss spelled
You train yourself to get the fingers off the front brake lever as you are stopping, and to start out without those fingers on the brake lever. And while you're maneuvering at slow speed, you keep those fingers off the lever, so you don't have to worry about a quick twitch of the fingers grabbing that brake, and taking the bike down.
Good advise,
Learned that the hard way,
No harm to the bike,
My prides a different story,
Front brakes on my 16 are like right now,
Front brakes on the Shovel ya gotta get a handful,
Welcome back, I jumped back in last Spring. 30 years off ending with a Yamaha Midnight Special. Back in with a Road King... a Honda Rebel.....and a Suzuki GS500. Me, my wife and son but I ride all of them. LOL

My rule is that unless the front wheel is pointing straight ahead, hand is off the front brake. Ask me why. My pride also …
