Took roughly a 15 year break from riding with marriage, kids etc. Started back riding a few years ago with a roadster/sporster and I enjoyed it but it was killing my back. I upgraded last year to a dyna super glide and thought I was going to be set for a while but my wife discovered she liked riding on the back (she wouldn't get on the sporty). I gave the dyna a fair shot last summer but it's just not made for more than occasional 2 up riding to the local coffee shop or bike night. I just listed the dyna for sale and picked up a 09 road glide. Hopefully the worst of the wet weather is behind us for the summer and I can get some miles in.

Purchased my first Harley, a 99 Ultra Classic about 2 months ago...and have been riding the heck out of it!! Rode dirt bikes growing up, and some small street bikes...until a 75 yr old lady turned left in front of me, and as a result, I almost lost my right leg below the knee. That was 32 yrs ago! And I have finally decided that it's time to ride again! Swore I wouldn't ride unless I got a huge Harley and it was lit up like a Christmas tree! Just wishing I would have got one 31 yrs ago!!! LOL

I ran up on a deal on an abandoned 97 Road King that I have spent the last two months getting it ready for the road.

I'm a new rider and went with the 2015 SGS as my first bike.

 

Picked up my first, a brand new 2015 RK last week. It's already due for it's 1,000 mile service within 9 days. Yeah, I ride the hell out of it every day as soon as I get out of the asylum here.

 

riding all sorts for 20 years....first harley 5 years ago and this year went from a softail to road king.....never looked back. I love it. just came back from a 5000mi trip in 9 days. cant imagine it on my old softail.

 

not my first bike, but it is my first in 26 yrs and it is my first Harley, a 2015 Road King. Have had it just a week, have 300 miles on it, looking to put plenty more.

 

I too am sort of like the OP. I rode dirt bikes 45 years ago but decided to get back into riding, and wanted a big enough bike for people to see, plus I wanted to get ABS. So I picked up my First Harley. a 2013 RG. Love riding it so far.


I used to ride a converted road bike in the dirt. It was the Honda 150 dream. It was a toad of a road bike but I cut off all the extra junk and bobbed the fenders and exhaust. Rode the heck out of it. Honda 50 before that, and a mini bike before that.
