Question SG air shocks? Won't maintain pressure?

The rear shocks on my 08 FLHX don't hold the air pressure. What pressure are you running 2 up? every couple of days I seem to be losing all pressure, I put more air in and two or three days later I check and have 2 pounds or less. What's going on, air leaks? Fittings, valve, shocks? How do I determine where the problem is? Anyone?

Default air shocks

It's just my opinion, but the chances are that it's the fittings on the air lines. It doesn't cost much to replace the air lines. I'd just replace the whole shebang, lines and fittings.

It's not uncommon for them to develop leaks around the fitting ghat screws onto the shock. From what I understand you can pick up the little plastic/rubber piece that does the seal from home depot. I believe there are several thread on this specific topic.

What are you using to fill it with? Hopefully NOT the same gas station air hose you fill your car tires with. The owner's manual instructs that the pressure is too high and will damage your lines causing leaks. It also tells you to use their very-low pressure hand pump to add air to the air suspension. There are also charts in the owner's manual suggesting recommended air pressures depending on your riding situation (one-up, two-up, different weights...).

I am using the HD air pump, I usually ride 2 up and set it at about 45 lbs. as per the manual

I had the same problem, drove me mad.. I would loose air in hours and have to pump them up during a ride. I changed to gas shocks and love them..

Default I had the same issue on my 09 RK

Don't fret. Use some soapy water around the lines where they go into the valves. The leak is probably at a coupling. Check your owners manual on the air lines. The couplings are just press fits and can be fixed easily. When you pull the hose out, just trim the end piece and put it back in and pull the black ring tab out a little to 'seat' the hose. My shocks have held 25lbs for over the entire spring now.

I have lowering shocks on my bagger which have different air pressure settings from the full size shocks. Pump them up and brush a mix of a mild soap solution on the fittings and look for bubbles.

Check the fittings for leaks like the others said.If the lines are leaking at the fittings, remove the lines and cut back the line a little(3/16-1/4")and re-insert.
Make sure the line bottoms out and the quick release coller is pulled out .

Default Gas Shocks

What if someone filled the air shocks and damaged the "bladder"? Are the shocks now ruined? And does that "line" run to the front of the bike also and what does it do there. How can I check if the leak is up front? Thanks, Dennis. Additionally is it better just replace with gas shocks?
