Man thats gotta suck, hope everything goes ok. I spent Thankgiving Day 1993 in the emergency room having my eyeball drilled. No blood and guts, but still painful.

Thankgiving Day 1993, yea the same day Leon Lett of the Cowboys gave a sure win to the Miami Dolphins.

Yep, gotta be careful. Hope you heal up well.

This just does not apply to grinders, anytime you use a power tool of any sort, you should use eye protection. I have some mean looking little marks on my forearm from hot metal chips thrown from a drill press, can't imagine the damage if they were to hit an eye.

Uhhggg... I was working under a set once for some crazy show with an industrial theme --

Went underneath a socket just to make sure everything was tight.

A few hours later my supervisor took me to 'immediate care' after I was complaining about my eye (evidently, he noticed it was looking a little 'iffy').

Some of the most terrifying moments ever... Drops to numb my eyeball, drops to make everything glow under UV lights, big, long, black needles poking around...

They removed a few chunks and sent me to a specialist who finally said that the other chunks were too deep to remove, but over the next few weeks, they'd dissolve on their own.

Keep in mind - Just checking torque - not putting anything together or taking anything apart. And I'm sure it was just a couple tiny pieces of metal that felt like a truck in my eyeball. Patches, antibiotic goop ($1176 per ounce - well over twice as expensive as gold at the time), fear --

Let's just say that I don't work on much without those glasses handy anymore...

God only gave us two.....The older i get the more i have realized just how vulnerable they can be!!! I have had my share of eye issues in my 53 years but one of my worst was when i was using a chain saw.... Cutting up a stump a piece of wood about the size of a golf ball shot up and hit me square in the left eye....Man i saw stars and thought i had done some major damage....Luckly it was just a bad bruise, but it looked like hell!!!!
Good reminder of how careful we need to be!!!

Yup, safety glasses all the way. I can't count how many times I've been doing something with the dremel tool and something hits me in the safety glasses. Always reminds me that wearing them is a good idea.

Don't forget about the safety mask for your mouth. Most situations don't call for it but if you think about all the dust and muck thrown up in the air its a good idea. Once, tearing out fiberglass insulation I inhaled some airborn particles. man that didn't feel too good.
