Default Has anybody removed stereo from fairing?

I am trying to install a biketronics retro radio kit into my 02 EG. I am trying to remove the factory head unit from the fairing. I got the 4 allen bolts off of the bracket but the dang unit will not slide out. It is like something in front is holding it.

Has anybody removed their head unit before? It there something in front that has to come off first?

Loosen/remove the two top screws securing the black/vertical fairing brackets. Pull the radio towards the front of the bike.

I tried. I even read the factory manual which just says to pull out. I have a Electra Glide Standard and someone installed the Advanced Harley Sound System in it.

When I move up and down it is bending the front of the fairing. It is like it is stuck or something It is like there is a piece in the front that is not letting it back out. I will try again in a few minutes.

Good thing I look at the vertical fairing brackets, the one on the right is broken where it screws in. Damm this looks like a major piece to replace. I dont know if I broke it trying to get the stereo out, I doubt it.

I looked at trying to remove the vertical fairing bracket. It looks like you have to remove the whole damm fairing to get to it. It might be easier to drill in place, and put a pre-made L bracket on there which are sold at home depot. Bolt it on.

What do you think?
