Seems like the number of 07s with this issue is mounting.

No wonder HD had to update the part.

 

My 07 Ultra with 33k on it started the same howling from the primary. Dealer took the primary apart to find bad compensator spring pack, bad clutch bearing, bad tranny mainshaft bearing which "slid" against my 5th gear which also requires replacement. Damn happy I opted for the extended warranty.
