Speed at which I shift with 6 speed
The one thing I am having trouble with getting used to with the Road King over the Dyna pictured below, is the speeds at which I shift in to a higher gear. It seems that the 6 speed needs to be shifted at speeds that the dyna was running comfortably in, if that makes any sense. I realize its because of the extra gear, but it seems like at 55-60mph it falls in between 5th and 6th, when the Dyna ran strong in 5th. Will I get used to this difference? Not sure if I am making myself clear or not.... been up all night with a bad cough and cold ... lol

I think you'll find that the lug point on that Dyna is about 2k. The newer bikes with the stock 96's are at 2500. I have an 08 SG. I watch my tach and don't shift into 6th till I am crusiing at 2500 or above on the highway. For me that's about 65-66 mph. As long as I stay above my lug point my gas mileage is in the mid 40's and the bike runs great. You'll get used to it. Take care of that cold!!!!!!!Hope that helps.

What he said! I can run in 6th gear at 50 to 55mph up and down the hills at 2000rpm's without lugging the engine.
Before the cam change I had to be about 60 to 65mph.
