FLHTK Fuel Mileage Excel Calculator
Those of you that own a 2010 FLHTK (Ultra Limited):
My Limited averages ~39 miles per gallon of gasoline. The fuel tank on the Limited has a 6 gallon rating. The range on my Limited is therefore ~234 miles. After riding ~117 miles from a full tank of gasoline, the needle in the analog fuel meter should be near or on the tenth (10) hash mark ( 1/2 tank) and the "R" or remaining miles should be displaying ~117 miles.
The analog fuel meter on my Limited was on the zero (0) hash mark (Empty) after traveling 150 miles. I didn't have a problem with the "R" value. In fact, I found that the "R" value to be relatively accurate. I sent my Limited to the dealer in hopes of correcting the inaccuracy of the analog fuel meter. Unfortunately, not only did the analog fuel meters accuracy not get corrected but my "R" value is now also inaccurate.
How does your2010 FLHTK analog and "R" fuel gauges perform? How many mpg's does you FLHTK produce? Use the hyperlink to get yourself a copy of the FLHTK fuel calculator. Input your data on your next fill-up.

Yes the analogue needle does seem to drop quickly in the final qtr but the 'R' feature has helped nicely. On recent trip back from St Tropez on the autoroute I let the 'R' get to 48 miles from empty, upon filling I found I had 3.5 litres left in the tank so I'd say the 'R' function was pretty reliable.

The best way to know your "miles to empty" range is from the mileage on the odometer, the Harley fuel gauges are very inaccurate and you could get into trouble if you rely on them. There is no fix or recalculation for these gauges, they are all over the place. You need to depend on the odometer mileage. Do not rely on the fuel gauge alone, it is only an estimate of fuel in the tank.
My 08 Ultra SE3 gets on average about 215+- miles per tank full, so to be safe I start looking for gas around 170-180 miles or so, have never run out on any bike or airplane !!

There have been times where I've forgotten (old age) to reset my trip-odometer. Not a big deal when traveling with others but may be a problem when I travel alone.
After paying > $30,000 USD for my ride, I want everything to work as advertised. It's just the way I am. If it doesn't work , then why have the dang thing on your bike?

Yes. The are standard equipment on the 2010 FLHTK. As I stated above, the 'R' value was very accurate until I had the dealer adjust the analog gauge. The difference between the 'R' value and calculated was always < 10 miles for me. Now it's off the charts around ~ 60+. It appears that your difference was roughly 12 miles (3.5L (0.9246 gal) assume 39 miles/gal). Do you know your average after 10 fill-ups?

I always reset my trip my Limited's fuel gauge is all over the place and the r feature is questionable as well so I learned many years ago to reset the trip so you can calculate how far to the next fill up. I have gone 170 and my nerves got the best of me and I fille it up took 4.5 gallons.
I also had a overflow splash(You talking about 1 mad S-O-B) all over my tank so when the pump shuts off IMO its full.

However, I have a need to trust my gauges when I'm far away from home. Part of the trust comes from exercising the gauges accuracies. Sometimes to get accurate results you need to reduce your slop into the equation. I fill it to the "brim". I know some bikes do not like being filled to the "brim". I'm lucky that my '10 FLHTK can be filled to the brim just like my old '04 FLHTCUI. We were on a trip to Canada. We just left Canada and was in Montana. We decided to eat pie in a little town outside of the Glacier National Forest. We filled-up our bikes and headed into the restaurant for pie, the bikes rested while we ate. We all jumped back on our bikes. One of the bikes refused to keep running. Two other bikes stuttered and backfired for the next couple of miles.
