It hard to imagine there aren't pieces of metal from the gears grinding together.

I'm 62 miles from the nearest dealer and my HOG Membership roadside assistance will only pay for about 15 to 20 miles. I'll have to find someone with a trailer.
It's under warranty, any "Good' dealer would come and pick it up for you. I know mine would, buddy of mine had an 08 last year still under warranty and they sent a guy 50 miles to pick up his bike when it wouldn't come out of limp mode.

Call them and tell them what your situation is, you have a trip planned and need to get the bike back on the road, if they value your business I bet they pick it up and get squeeze you into service to fix it.

What's a little bit strange is, the service manual doesn't have any troubleshooting information for the starter. It doesn't even have a view of the starter with gear on it. Is that in a different manual?

Well, good luck with it either way. I would loan you a trailer, but you are h*** and gone from me.

Yes you are a bit to far. Thanks, I appreciate the offer anyhow. What's a real shame is that my brand new HOG Membership Road-side Assistance will not take the scooter 61 miles to the dealer.

Unfortunately, the dealer wants a minimum of $75 to come and get the scooter. It's 61 miles to the dealer from home.

Instead of complaining about your problem on here why don't you do like the others have said and disconnect the lead to the starter and ride it in. What are you so concerned about that you can't ride it in?

I hate to sound like I'm doing nothing but complaining. I live in a small town that's 61 miles from the dealer and have no way to get home if they have to keep it. The dealer has a skeleton crew on Monday and can't work on it today anyhow. There is no problem with me riding it to the dealer.

What I'm concerned about more than anything is the number of problems and complaints on new scooters that I've been reading about here. I don't know what % of all Harley owners this website represents but if it proportionally represents all Harley owners, then we're in trouble. Or is this normal? I sure would hate to think so.

I C your point...but IMO they shouldn't charge you a pick up charge, they should be charging that back to the Moco since it's a warranty claim, you shouldn't have to pay a dime for anything. Did you ask them if they would do that?

You might want to check on that 15-20 mile limit. I'm not sure what plan you have, but they should take it to the nearest dealer even it's 61 miles away.
