Default Anyone ever seen this type of headwork?

I think it's supposed to stop pinging, but how?

Looks like a good way to blow a head gasket!

Lowers your compression ratio. I can't see this as a good thing to do to heads.

Try a Google search for squish grooves you will find lots of info on what they are suppose to do.

They look like a copy of this guys patent.

Here is the patent info.

hey jamesw, the slots as hog doc said, would be a potential head gasket failure. besides, you should be using good gas rather than the cheapest stuff you can find. either that, or stop trying to pull that long hill in sixth gear when you're doing 55 mph.

Funny thing. I just did a front brake caliper rebuild on my buddies 03' RK and when I split the calipers I found the same type of v-groove coming off the brake fluid supply hole on the opposite side of the o-ring. Still don't know why they did this but, it is just like this pic on the heads.

Settle down guys! I don't have pinging. I'm not driving up hills in 6th gear at 55mph. I don't buy cheap gas and I've yet to blow a head head gasket other than on an old 327 chevy years ago. I just ran across this web site and thought maybe someone could explain the logic of this, if there is any.

There is a lot of info out on that. It sets up more turbulance to give a better mixture, like the squish area on the heads.
