Default taking outer fairing off

friends, I do not have a service manual and I would like to take the outer fairing off. I am sure its not hard, can anyone advise me how to do it. I remember reading a previous post that a guy could not put his on after he took it off. I really need to take it off to run wires through it. Can someone please help.

Do a search on batwing fairing removal or outer fairing removal; there are numerous posts on this subject and a few in great detail with pictures.

Very simple, remove the screws on the inner fairing that hold it on. There are two screws below by the fork tubes. 6 in all I believe.

Sorry, and you have to remove the screws that hold the windshield.

Make sure you cover the passing lamps with old socks or a couple of microfiber towels too. Makes it a little easier and protects the fairing as your R/R it.

there are three 1/4 20 screws int the front take out the outside ones loosen the center one. there is one on each side far outside the are #27 thorx take them out.
there is one each side down under the fairing close to the neck bearings #27 thorx
take them out. I forgot to say remove the windshield after the three top screws.
also you should cover your front fender with a towel now take the top center screw out.
now pull the fairing out enough to get you hand in to unplug the headlight. Now if you do not havedriving lights you can just sit the fairing off to the side. If you have driveng
lights you are going to have to work it up on one side to get pass them

Assuming it's a batwing, they're 7 screws.3 for the windshield 2 on the side and 2 more below by the fork tubes.I remove the windshield, put a couple screws in finger tight to hold it up then remove the other 4.When I go back together I put 2 in on top finger tight then start from the bottom and go up.Dont tighten anything up until you've got all the screws in.For me lining the bottom holes takes longer than removing the fairing. The socks on the running lights work good,I also put a piece of masking tape along the bottom of the fairing to protect the paint.
