Default may buy a 2006 king... any advice?

I am looking into buying a 2006 Road King Police bike.
It is the Standard
Single air ride seat, platform on the back not removed yet, big dials on top of the hard bags, but still lockable.
The price seems to be good....
So i went and looked at it...
it was as advertised...
It is EFI, and ABS....
Seen it with my own eyes....I thought abs came out later?
Are there any known issues with this year of bike? Anything I should be concerned with? Anything I should look for?

Anybody want the seat? lol

I'm not familiar with the older Kings but you will love the ride of the King. Others have reported that the Police bikes are very well maintained.

Have an 07 and really like the 06. 5 speed tranny will not be a problem. The 88 engine is sweet. The heat problems with the 96 dosen't exist and I've been told Harley used the larger 96" valves in the 06. The only knock I've heard and you may want to do a search on this is the cam at about 30,000 miles.
Good Luck if you decide to buy.

Have an 06 Ultra happy with it I did gear/gear and cam change at 21K my shoes had little wear did't need changing but was already into it so ahead I went.

HD replaced key switch, front rotors (warped), injectors (wrong from factory had 8 degree needed 25 degree), voltage regulator. other than that its all been good. Police bike had ABS before they became available on our scooters.

hope this helps

The only things to check that I'd recommend would be if it's running the 8* or 25* injectors. The '06 had an issue with the 8* injectors and swapped to the 25* injector. Also depending on the miles, I'd check the tensioner shoes to see how badly they're worn. If more than 50% worn you'll want to replace them or even go to gears or the new HD hydraulic setup.

ok, so how would i check the injectors, while it is still at the stealer?
if the bike has 40,000 on the clock...
again, how would i check the tensioners on the floor?
I can BUY... the extended warranty...
would that cover any of the mentioned issues?

What would you all say would be a fair price on a basic police king? with 40,000 on it?

The dealer can look at the injectors and tell you if they have been or need changeing. There should be fresh oil in all holes and I think the 06 fork fluid change is about 20,000, don't hold me to that. The selling dealer should be able to tell you if a full scheduled maintenance was preformed by the dealership. They should also give you some kind of warranty going out the door.
My local dealer here in Pa. had 3 06 Road Kings on the floor $15,000 each. All appeared in excellent condition with plenty of added accessories.

You can't go wrong with a Road King.
