Default Ohlins or Ricor?

Looking at one these two for my 2010 Road Glide Custom. The 13'' shocks raise the bike maybe 3/4'' from what they tell me with no weight on it. Sounds like it is about the same height with rider as stock. 740.00 shipped for Ohlins and 650.00 shipped for Ricor. Waiting for some input before i place an order thanks

I can only comment on the Ohlins I got from Howard. I have a 2010 EGC and they made my bike ride like I have thought it should all along. I had great service before and after the sale from Howard. He is alway willing to talk shocks, even though some of his explanations of how shocks are suppose to work go right over my head. Whichever shocks you go with, you will be making a big upgrade to the ride and handling of your bike. good luck with your choice.

I've just installed the Ricors and have a little over 2,000 miles on them so far. I have nothing but positive things to say about the shocks and the service I've received from Brian at Ricor.

Did you get the 13'' and do they have external adjustable dampening like the Ohlins? Also from solo to with gear and a passenger is the spring easy to adjust and is it enough to compensate for the weight difference?

Yes, I got the 13". Yes, they have an exterior adjuster for preload that requires no tools. No, they have no provision to adjust either compression or rebound, however I don't feel that those are necessary for a street-driven touring bike (an argument can be made for those adjustments if you race). The shocks work equally well when I ride solo and when I ride with my wife and gear on board.

The Ohlins version that has the threaded body for preload(sag) adjustment, version #3 from Motorcycle Metal, has overall length adjustability along with external comp and rebound adjustments. If I was to buy now I would buy that version instead of the #2 version that has no damping adjustments or overall length adjustability and the preload adj was not very precise, only really useful for cargo or an additional passenger, not very friendly for sag adjustments. I have been using Ohlins since 1979 so I am biased towards them due to my past familiarity and satisfaction with them.

Both good shocks but I went with Ohlins #3. Howard builds to your needs.

Default 12'' on 2010 RGC

I guess that they used 12'' on the 2010 but earlier have 13'' is there anyone that can guide me on which would be the smart choice for a 2010? I'm thinking the 3#3s Ohlins. I like the Ricors but i like the option of dampening with the Ohlins but not sure if that is needed as already stated above. About 100.00 more for the Ohlins.

Just to clarify that statement. We custom build each shock per order based on weight, bike, riding style and length. Each shock is dyno run to verify the tune prior to shipping. We will even refund your $$ if you don't like them.

Most will never need damping adjustment but I wish I had it now,I should have listened to Howards advice but I thought I wouldn't want it being a touring bike and liked the lower price, I should have known!
