twin cam motors are junk
#111
I beat **** out of my TC 107 RG (recently sold 47k miles) and 124 TC on my 06 SG 29k - not a problem -- do you know what caused the failure? I'd replace with S&S crate motor.
I purchased a 2005 Electraglide standard new, I've keep it serviced and have ridden it with respect. NOW at 43,000 miles it starem knocking, so it needs cam bearings and possibly lifters valves and who know what else. As much as they cost you'd think they would go at least 100,000 mi. but I guess the UNION wants them to fail so they can build more new ones. When it's fixed I'm selling and purchasing an EVO.

I agree with lionsm13, posting #5! I have an EVO, a 1997 FLHR, that gets compliments for its condition almost every time i ride it, but i won't get rid of mine, either. it runs alot cooler, less heat thrown at the the rider, and the cam is run by a gear, no chain or shoes to wear out. AND it gets better gas mileage than my 02 FXDL, 06 FLHX, and 2010 FLHRI. (my 01 FLHRCI can get slightly better fuel economy)

I suggest you try a shovel head engine for as many miles . I promise after overheating, mopping up gallons of oil from, picking up parts that come flying off going down the road. And o yeah having stop every few hundred miles to tighten your chain.. I am sure you will come back happy to your twin cam :-)
