twin cam motors are junk

I purchased a 2005 Electraglide standard new, I've keep it serviced and have ridden it with respect. NOW at 43,000 miles it starts knocking, so it needs cam bearings and possibly lifters valves and who know what else. As much as they cost you'd think they would go at least 100,000 mi. but I guess the UNION wants them to fail so they can build more new ones. When it's fixed I'm selling and purchasing an EVO.

So what; the Hogs will live longer yet. My '05 tc88 has a Boyesen X-wing b4 the carb, tuned jets, 2-1 pipes, an Andrews 21 torque cam, and others have thought it was a 103 because of the way it runs. I expect to see about 150k b4 I bore her out and rework the heads and bearings.
It rocks when your powerband comes on at 1400 revs!

Evo's bulletproof? I seem to remember Evo lifters being good for about 25,000 miles. They were finally upgraded to a larger axle for the roller, not to mention weeping cases, and leaks at the cylinder bases. The Twin Cam oil system is far superior to the Evo's, and O rings at the cylinder bases don't seem to leak. The Twin Cam's only Achilles heel was the old spring loaded cam chain tensioners which has been corrected with the hydraulic tensioners. The earlier models are easily upgraded with gear drives or the later hydraulic set up. I have two twinkies and they have been the most dependable motorcycles I've ever owned, and I've been riding over 40 years. Twin Cams ain't junk!
